Leaving is not the hardest part. What comes after — the housing search, the paperwork, the systems, the fear, the rebuilding — is where too many women fall through the cracks. Camp Robin’s Domestic Violence Advocacy and Housing program walks alongside women who are escaping or recovering from domestic violence, providing safe housing navigation, systems advocacy, peer support, and education — in partnership with licensed DV service providers across Metro Detroit.
Why This Matters
Domestic violence is one of the leading drivers of housing insecurity for Black women and their families in Detroit. Yet the path from crisis to stability is rarely straight. Women face waitlists, eligibility barriers, systems that were not designed with their dignity in mind, and a profound shortage of culturally competent support. We believe every woman deserves more than just a referral. She deserves someone in her corner.
